About me

Robyn Gray (she/her/hers), somatic therapist in Sacramento

I became interested in providing psychotherapy after doing my own interpersonal work - for the first time in my life I was able to come to a place of deep connection and acceptance with myself, which had a positive ripple effect into the rest of my life. Having this personal healing experience, my desire then became to provide this same service to others. I have been working in the mental health field for over 15 years and believe wholeheartedly in the value of the therapeutic relationship and the healing benefits of therapy.

As a somatic therapist in Sacramento, my approach is based in a mind and body awareness and is a collaboration with my clients - I believe you are the expert of your life and my job is to not "fix" you, because you are not broken, but to support you in the journey to uncovering your authentic self, and as a result, living a life that reflects your worth and feeling more whole as a person. I have many years of experience utilizing the following therapy modalities in my practice, including: Psychodynamic, Brainspotting, Polyvagal Theory, Mindfulness, Somatic Experiencing, Internal Family Systems (IFS) Informed, Hakomi principles, Trauma-Informed practices, yoga therapy and meditation.

My private practice is devoted to both long-term therapy for individual's seeking insight and identity exploration and as well as more short-term, problem focused treatment, tailoring treatments to the individual's goals and timeline. I do specialize in supporting those that are experiencing anxiety, grief/loss, childhood trauma and Complex PTSD (C-PTSD).

I believe that when we process difficult emotions and beliefs about our self and the world around us by using our body and felt sense first, and then coming to insight from a more resourced place, we find the path to deep healing. This may be a simple concept (or not), but it is certainly not easy. Mindfulness allows the body to become a safe environment for one to learn to observe and feel the difficult emotions without reacting to them. When we learn to become the observer of our internal experiences, we create the space to have the option to be able to choose a response and often this is the path to living a life that is aligned with our values and most authentic self.

One of the many paths to mindfulness is meditation. I invite you to check out my recorded meditations that I often share with clients and in my yoga therapy groups to support the mindfulness process. Even if we are not able to work together one-on-one, you can still receive the healing benefits of a guided meditation practice.

Please note, my practice is currently full and I am unable to accept new clients at this time.
